#GNW2016: Day 5 of Global Network Week in the Philippines: Capstone Project Presentation and Culmination Activity

March 22, 2016

The last day of the course was dedicated to the presentations of the capstone projects and the awards ceremony.

The presentation of the capstone projects was the culmination of the classroom and site lectures provided in the course. A presentation of the students’ perspectives on the macro and micro aspects of agrotourism and forestry, delivering policy recommendations and marketing proposals, was conducted. The students were divided into three groups, where each group discussed their proposals for their chosen sites. The capstone projects were presented to the panelists, composed of Prof. Noel M. Cortez, Prof. Fernando Y. Roxas, Dr. John Paolo R. Rivera, Ofelia Odilao-Bisnar, and Ma. Afrecita D. Nieva.

The first group presented their business strategy on the Prado Farms, emphasizing the need for a stronger digital marketing presence, while incorporating venues for cultural exchanges and internships. The second group discussed their proposal for the Milea Bee Farm, primarily aimed at increasing scale and profitability through their three-pronged strategy: raising awareness of the benefits of pollination, promoting collaboration with universities and the local community, and promoting apitourism and training. The third group discussed their proposal for Oryspa Spa Solutions, a proposal involving brand repositioning, brand splitting and optimization, and digital marketing.

The day concluded with an awards ceremony where special awards were given to specific students such as Illiana Lazarova, who was given the best student award, and the group presenting their proposal on Oryspa, composed of Nina Lagpacan, Apurva Mathur, Vishaka Vaidya, Mayank Jindal, and Yun Chang Hoon, as the best group for capstone project presentation. By the end of the ceremony, each of the students was given a certificates signifying his or her successful completion of the course. After the awarding ceremonies, the students were given a city tour of Intramuros.
