Topic & Description:

From Local to Global: Concepts, Frameworks, and Analytical Tools Necessary to Develop an Effective Global Strategy

Globalization has changed the dynamics of business irrevocably. Today’s companies must operate on a much larger scale and in an environment of global competitiveness where product development, market needs, customers’ targets must take into account multiple cultures, collaborations and regional developments. Even for companies that do not intend to “go abroad,” the entry of foreign companies into their home markets makes a better understanding of global strategy a necessity if not a requisite for survival. The goal of this course is to introduce you to concepts, frameworks, and analytical tools necessary to develop an effective global strategy. There will be case studies and a presentation by student group teams on companies visited.

The largest October week to date includes the Asian Institute of Management and the Indian Institute of Management, which are both hosting students for the first time.

Ten Global Network for Advanced Management schools will host 330 students from across the world during Global Network Week starting on October 13.

During weeklong modules, students will pursue intensive study alongside their colleagues from throughout the network, learning from top faculty and meeting local business leaders during company visits. Each participating school focuses on a specific topic or theme, leveraging their particular academic strengths and regional expertise.

The coming week includes new modules from two schools that are participating in Global Network Week for the first time: the Asian Institute of Management and Indian Institute of Management-Bangalore. AIM’s week will examine the growing ecotourism industry in the Philippines, while IIMB features discussions and company visits focused on India’s technology companies and entrepreneurial ventures.

Additional Global Network Weeks for students and faculty are being planned for March 2015 and the second half of that year.
